Rosalia Vila Tobella[2] (born 25 September 1992),[3] known mononymously as Rosalia (Spanish: [rosa'li.a], Catalan: [ruz@'li.@]),[4][5][6] is a Spanish singer. She was raised in Barcelona and has been called an "atypical pop star" because of her diverse musical styles. In the wake of being fascinated by Spanish folk music at the age of 13, she studied musicology at the Catalonia College of Music while performing in bars and weddings.She finished her studies with honors by virtue of the cover album she recorded with Raul Refree, Los Angeles (2017) and her Baccalaureate-related project El Mal Querer (2018). The project reinvented flamenco and mingled it with pop and hip-hop music. The songs "Malamente" and "Pienso in tu Mira" were popular among the Spanish public and garnered all-encompassing critical acclaim. 11) Winner of the Latin Grammy Award for Album of the Year, and a place in Rolling Stone's list of 500 Greatest Albums of All Time, El Mal Querer started the ascent of Rosalia into the world music scene. The third studio album she released, Motomami (2022) gave reggaeton an innovative sound that was moving away from the flamenco-inspired style. The album gained the attention of the world with its two singles "La Fama" and "Saoko" and was subsequently the most reviewed album of the year on Metacritic. Rosalia has scored ten number one songs in the course of her career in her native country. This is the highest number for an artist hailing from the region. Rosalia has earned eleven Latin Grammy Awards, two Grammy Awards, four MTV Video Music Awards and four MTV Europe Music Awards with three UK Music Video Awards, and two Premio Ruido Awards. Billboard awarded her the Rising Star Award in 2019 for "changing today's mainstream music sound by bringing flamenco to pop"[1818. She was also the first singing Spanish artist to be nominated for the Grammys for Best New Artist.
Rosalia was born on 25 September 1992 in Sant Cugat del Valles and raised in Sant Esteve Sesrovires,[20][21][22] Baix Llobregat, Catalonia. Her birthplace was in a family with no artistic heritage and is the youngest child of Pilar Tobella who runs a small family-owned business that specializes in metalworks. Jose Manuel Vila was her father. He was born in Cudillero (Asturias). They split in 2019. (23). She has an older sibling, Pilar "Pili" Vila (born 1989) who is working with Rosalia as her stylist and creative director. Rosalia was interested in performing arts from her early years. She was able to discover the discography of Camaron De la Isla. She began her music education at the Taller de Musics [es]. She completed a six-year course at the academy. She started at the Raval school, then moved to the Superior School of Music of Catalonia. Additionally, she performed in a private capacity as a performer at weddings, musical bars as well as other events. She received "a just over 80 euros or as a payment for dinner". Rosalia was at the mercy of many underground Spanish artists during that time such as La Zowi and Yung Beef, Kaydy Case, Hinds Maria Escarmiento, Kaydy Cain.
