Walker was born 1976 in Pennsylvania, Philadelphia. Walker is of African-American descent and has an American passport. She's the daughter of Harvey Welker (a Native American father) and Julie Welker (an African-American mom). Her mother is a real estate agent and her father works as an engineer. Walker has graduated from Germantown Friends School located in the city of Philadelphia's Germantown district in 1994. Following her graduation from Harvard College in 1998, she enrolled at Harvard College and earned her Bachelor of Arts.
